After a bit of a life shakeup, my musical experience is going in a more focused direction. I've been confronted with the fact (in multiple ways) that I often spend too much time in one place, so I'm working towards spreading myself out more.
This requires a more portable workspace, which is easy enough to do since I use a laptop and finally dug my field recorder out again. I don't know if I'll be able to get full pieces put together while bouncing around (probably ambient ones), but I'm organizing it so I have certain offices where I can do certain things. My home office won't fit my keyboards, but I can set them up in my old bedroom at my parents' house. I can also work out in the field at a coffee shop or even at the brewery though that leads to distractions because I'm kind of a big deal there. *wink*
As for the music itself, it's taking form through some older as well as some more current creative influences. The current ones come from my ambient drone releases, as well as the material on my SoundCloud page (which I plan to work with more in the near future).
The past influences come from more of my experimental material, like Streams of Consciousness or Pico Gets His Groove On in Port Town - pieces that are somewhat on the side of free improvisational, where I can just pick a key to work in and explore the sound.
I know I've talked a lot about musical creation lately, but I haven't put anything out since Icebound Desolation almost two months ago. A lot of that has to do with me trying to pin down my sound, and then it changing on me two weeks later. I think that also has to do with me changing my process so much over the past two months, so now that I have a more defined way in which I work, I should be able to get some more work done. Fingers crossed.
Until next week!
