The Farthest Reaches There’s not a whole lot of story behind this song – it’s a song I’ve wanted to do for a while, as it’s frequently in rotation when I listen to NSFs. It’s the planet Shankoo theme from Solar Jetman: Hunt for the Golden Warpship for the Nintendo Entertainment System, which is also a game that I’ve owned and enjoyed since my youth (similar to my experience with Dragon Spirit: The New Legend). I picked this song in particular because I really enjoy the ambience of the track, as well as the varying structures within. The melody loops three times and the rhythm loops two times (with variations) before the song reaches a full repetition around the three and a half minute mark. I tacked on an additional A melody loop and an A’ rhythm loop (single held notes instead of constant sixteenths) at the end, and called it a day. The song is done in an ambient style, as I wanted to stay true to the source material. Give it a listen (and/or download) and I hope you enjoy!
