| A Creative Introduction |
Welcome to my realm! It’s been quite some time since I’ve done anything new with my site, and now seems like a good time in my life to change that. I’ve certainly enjoyed running the site for my [Concatenation Records] label over the past two years, but the time has come to stop putting almost all of my creative eggs in one basket (music) and expand that creativity to other areas.
Even though I’m still firmly entrenched in the label and my musical projects, I’ve optimized my time in almost all parts of my life in order to make time to pursue these other interests that have been somewhat neglected, and here are a couple of ways I plan to do this.
Resurrecting the Blog
I’ve enjoyed blogging on this site in the past, but the contents of said posts were an unfocused spewing of events in my personal life rather than something that could be enjoyed by others that weren’t affected by these events. This time around, I’ve decided to write about things I know or things I’ve experienced that could be of use to others.
Changing the Name of the Site
I felt it was necessary because I’m definitely not the angst-riddled person I was when I started up the site in 2002 and not quite the music-obsessed one that quit actively updating it in 2007. With the dawn of a new decade on the horizon and a lot of new personal experiences under my belt over the past few years, a fresh title just feels right. The Abyss is gone, and The Realm is left in its stead.
How This Site Will Grow
You may ask, “What exists in The Realm of Jason Vincion?” Well, I’m a man that loves to create, to exercise, to game, to drink beer, and to enjoy life’s experiences as they come. The site’s content will reflect more and more of these interests through what I can creatively muster up. I’ll go more in-depth with the next few blog posts, which will help flesh out the subtitle of the site (For the Love of Creativity).
To clarify – when I say that I love to create, I not only enjoy creating with whatever I can get my hands on, I enjoy being creative with concepts. This mostly applies to figuring out thematic flows for albums and fitness plans, but I’m sure it shows up in other areas as well.
Also, while music, fitness, gaming, and beer will be the things I’ll focus on the most, I definitely enjoy other creative ventures such as writing (obviously), coding HTML (I’m in the process of making sure each page here and at the Concatenation Records site is up to W3C standards), photography, designing album and website art, drawing; the list goes on and on. If you take the time to continually explore the rest of the site as time passes, this should become more and more evident.
Upcoming Creative Ventures
A creative venture I’m going to embark upon soon (sometime early next year) will be micro brewing. I’ve had an interest in it for a few years now (which I’ll talk about in an upcoming post), but I haven’t acted on this interest for whatever reason. I’ll be certain to blog about it and all of the interesting and exciting discoveries that I make along the way.
Another creative venture that I’m going to get back into is writing short stories (and eventually some longer ones) in 2011, though the rest of 2009 and all of 2010 are going to be spent re-honing my writing skills through this blog (as I’m likely coming off a bit robotic, tangential, and unfocused at the moment) in order to help with the 2011 endeavor.
Purpose
I know that creating is what I should be doing with my life, especially since I’ve been getting up earlier and earlier (I currently rise at 4:00 AM on the weekdays, 6:00 AM on the weekends) to code this site and the Concatenation Records site over the past couple of months with a drive that even befuddles me at times. I speculate that it’s because I’m working on a means to an end. As soon as I get all aspects of the site tuned up, I’ll be ready to transmit even more facets of my creativity.
I’ve been making a lot of discoveries about my life over the past few months and years, and though I’ve known that I wanted to be as creative as I possibly can, I didn’t have the confidence to think that I would be able to do that due to some rather limiting beliefs. I definitely have an abundant amount of confidence now, so it’s time to go full speed ahead into a future that I know I will enjoy.
Without further adieu, I welcome you to join me on my adventure! Enjoy the creativity I’ve already put forth and please stop by the forum to introduce yourself as I've introduced myself here! You should also prepare yourselves for what will be a very interesting and exciting journey into further creativity!
For the love of creativity!
